Freedom of press－Asahi shinnbunn opinion

On May 3rd the Constitution Day 1987, Tomohiro Kojiri who is a reporter of Asahi Shimbun was killed by Sekihoutai with a shotgun at Asahi Shimbun's Hanshin Bureau. 15 years later, Criminal was not arrested and the statute of limitations runs out in 2002. The article maintains that we must protect the freedom of speech and never to turn back the days full of terrorism and repression of speech.

Sekihotai said in a statement "The anti-Japanese Asahi Shimbun ought to return to 50 years ago". "50 years ago" intend to a begining of militarism in Japan, to be more precise 5.15 affair was happened
in 1937. Japan after 1937, military forces was becoming stronger the and the journalism bow to pressure from military. Especially Asahi simbun was referred to the most collaborative journal to instigate people.

I was born in 1987 and I have been known nothing about this affair however, even I realized it is meaningful in today. The prime minister aim next election to amendment of the Constitution and the article also mentioned about a shooting death of the mayor of Nagasaki district.

Recently the relation between media and citizens was getting worse.But ideal situation of journalism is media and citizens collaborate to check politics and society. To that end, media must bring back citizen's confidence at first.
